Google has now launched an add on to their shopping feeds search to allow viewers to check whether items are currently in stock net to the products that come up in the search results. This now means that whether you are on your computers or mobile devices such as the iPhone, you can now check to see if certain items are in stock in a nearby store to where your IP location is. You will be able to check out the product’s availability by clicking on the “blue dot” included within the shopping portal search results.
This functionality will be really useful if you are out shopping and you see something in one shop but they don’t have any stock left for a particular product, you would then be able to search online to see if other stores in the local area have stock before going there yourself to make the purchase. You would also be able to get directions to the shop from within the search results as well.
Google currently only has a select few shopping partners who are on this scheme so the ability to find products within the local area is limited until more brands sign up and allow data to be shown within the search results. Now that it has been released Google expect more and more companies to sign up as it will benefit them so much more having up to date stock lists within the search results.
