The launch of Google’s new social media application Google Buzz had reported after the first 2 days to be over 9 million subscribers. This figure will surely have increased by now but this new application has been under fire from a large amount of feedback on some of its functionality. Google have announced that they have taken on board the comments and are no making tweaks to the system as a resolution to the problems.
One of the issues users were having would be once they had signed up to Buzz, any contact they emailed on Gmail would automatically be added as a person they wanted to follow. Google have now updated this so that each new contact becomes a suggestion for the user to follow to give them the option to follow or not.
One of the other main changes will be Google adding a tab in the Gmail settings to allow users to choose whether to show or hide their followers or the people they are following. It will also give users the option whether to show buzz in the Gmail interface.
Google is also getting rid of the link between Google Reader and Buzz and the Picasa web album with Buzz. This will stop the Google Reader interface picking up blogs you are not subscribed too as initially the link with Google Buzz and Google Reader was automatic and would quickly fill up the feeds that you already have setup in Google Reader with posts pulled in from Buzz.
