After weeks of speculation about Apple’s “latest creation” the rumours can stop now that Apple have officially released their newest piece of technology, the Ipad. It is basically a larger version of the Ipod Touch, an e-book reader and tablet device that can be used for web browsing. It is still a touch screen device but has been described as a “third category” which fits between mobile phones and laptops. The device will also allow you to watch films and play games and browse the web on a larger screen than on a mobile phone.
There is speculation however that Steve Jobs, the chief executive at Apple, did not reveal who the default search engine would be. Currently Apple use Google but there has been rumours that there may be a switch in place and that Apple are closing in on a deal with Microsoft’s newest search engine Bing. Some however believe that this switch could be a huge mistake as most users are used to using Google as their browser.
The tablet allows users to type directly on the screen and manipulate images with their finger tips, however a keyboard can be plugged in as an external device.
The Ipad wont be the only device on the market of its kind as early this month manufacturers HP and Dell showed off their devices at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. But Steve Jobs announced at the release of the Ipad that the competitors so called “notebooks” wont be in the same league as the Ipad.
