The Benefits of Web Analytics

Without web analytics it would be difficult to measure statistics or analyze visitor behaviour.  It is a way to determine data in terms of profit, sales and market share or market interest.  Web analytics is the tool used for collecting data and analyzing it.

It can be used to analyze market trends or it can be used to identify visitors.  It can also analyze their behaviour on a website and their preferences in term of which features they are more attracted to.

Monitoring visitors

Web analytics can tell you how long a visitor stays on a website, where they came from and who they are.  It can show clicksteams and what keywords they use.  Where they were referred from (which WebPages or search engines) and how many times they return to a website and where they return to.

It can tell how your website is used down to the tiniest specifics.  It can tell you what nationality visitors are and what language they speak, it can pinpoint which city they reside in.  It can check visitor behaviour and in doing so tell you whether they are browsers or serious information seekers.  Web analytics will also be able to tell you how many unique visitors a website gets daily.

Web analytics can help with optimization

Once visitor behaviour has been analyzed it is possible to take this information and use it for SEO.  It will give you the information you need to change certain items and tell you what appeals to your market.  It can show you which pages are more popular and which are passed over.  Knowing this will help you adjust or improve what needs doing.  It can also help you improve the technicalities of your website and provide the means to better navigate, improve or streamline processes.

Formulate sales and e-marketing plans

Web analytics can help you prepare an e-marketing plan of action.  Your plan will be based on actualities instead of probabilities.  Statistics provided by web analytics can show what your audience wants or needs.  Simply tracking items that are most often viewed you can learn what items or products on your site receives the most attention.  In this way you can adapt your offerings to attract more traffic and while doing so monitor what sparks and keeps their attention.

Real-time web analytics

Web analytics provides detailed and highly accurate reports in real time.  It can provide the answers relating to visitor behaviour, site performance and customer retention as it happens.  Advocates of web analytics relay that it is far more accurate than the data provided by logfiles.   With real-time web analytics the data that can be obtained includes page views, navigation, entry and exit pages, time spent, languages, geographic locations, visits and keywords used in searches.

A website owner is constantly kept informed about their visitors in real-time.  What happened last week may for some be old news.  What happened on an hourly basis is for some what keeps their business ticking. It is able to provide live statistics and provide immediate answers to real-time questions.
