Tools for internet marketing and SEO
Filed under: About SEO by Daniel Taylor on April 22nd, 2008 @ 3:13 pm
This week I have advised a number of clients on tools that help them with their SEO, as I have mentioned a number of tools throughout the blogs I though it was about time I gave out a list. This list is by no means definitive, and a certain amount of skill is required to setup and use tools, but there is plenty of literature out there as these tools are mainstream because they are so successful. So without further a do lets start.
Firefox: If you don’t uses this as your browser you should start. Unlike internet explorer 6 or 7, Firefox is built in a accordance with the world wide standards agency and is open source, therefore additional add-ons are being built for it all the time by the people that use it, and without going out on a limb that’s every good web developer that ever lived.
WordPress for easy blog creation: If you have read my Content Is King article, you will understand the need for regular fresh content, and a blog is the perfect way to go. Word press boasts an easy 5 minute setup which is true for the basic setup, in reality it can take time to tailor it to your site. With this there are a number of add-ons to make your SEO life easier. These also require some experience to setup and use them to their full potential. The first add on is Sociable - Social Book marking for Word Press. This adds social media buttons to your posts, allowing people to rate your blog within the social media circuit. www.socialscan.com is very useful in monitoring these ratings, and that of your competitors, and with the right knowledge and a little hard work you can create a viral effect though out the social media scene.
The second WordPress add on which I would recommend is HeadSpace 2. This allows you to SEO the page titles, meta description and keywords to name but a few. There are many plug-ins in WordPress which do the same job, I am just telling you my preferences.
Yes you guessed it, this is going to be a two parter as there is just too much to cover, and I don’t want to overwhelm you all at once. If you’re doing this.
