Using Search Engine Optimisation to promote an affiliate site is a great moneyspinner. Create a page that is dedicated to the merchant you’re promoting and with a small amount of optimisation you will be able to drive good traffic through the associated banners, and therefore receive plenty of commission for every sale that has been generated this way.
This is great on a good commission affiliate (I recommend Sky, HMV) with a brand name that is recognisable. Affiliate marketing is great because it’s a low risk model, this means the merchant who is selling the product will pay commission only for genuine leads and sales, and the affiliate simply has to hold the banner or link on their page.
Pay per click was the obvious ideal method for this, but this is now frowned upon by many merchants which in turn promoted a crack down by pretty much every network. There is nothing to stop you doing SEO however and I would recommend affiliate marketing to anyone who owns a website, and if you can achieve good rankings for a specific product that’s also relative to your site there is every chance you will make money from it.
