Search Engine Optimisation and One-Way Links

Once your website is up and running and you have done all your search engine optimisation exactly as you should have, you move onto the crucially important job of building reciprocal and inbound links. The importance has always fallen to building highly reputable reciprocal links. When you obtain a reciprocal link from another website, you have to respond by giving that website a link from your own site.

The huge difference with one-way links is that you get this external link that comes from another website and points at your own website. But, you do not have to give that website a link from your own website in return. Now of course as is human nature, webmasters have begun to buy PR links with high value and use other unethical tricks to increase their link popularity and page rank.

One-way benefits

The search engines have therefore moved their focus to one-way links. The reasoning behind the higher value given to one-way links is that if someone is prepared to give you a one-way link without demanding anything in return, your website has great value. So it is clearly understandable why smart webmasters are changing tracks sharply and are cultivating one-way links with great intensity. For the more inbound links you have that is one-way, the faster you can raise your link popularity and of course your page rank for your chosen keywords.

Adopting new strategies

Webmasters not only submit their websites to quality directories, but also to specialised or niche directories. Another strategy for gaining one-way links is to create a viral effect by using extremely high quality articles that focus attention on their expertise. They then submit these articles to article banks, distributors and directories. Joining the blogosphere and participating in forums and leaving their links in the signature blocks are another way to gain one-way links. Social bookmarking sites is the other way of gaining good one-way links as associating themselves with high ranking social media bookmarking sites give them access to a valuable resource.

Work smart and adapt

The internet is too competitive to start lagging behind. Online marketing is shifting and the only way to be successful is to shift to keep in tune as the algorithms of search engines change. The scope from building one-way links from blogs, directories, social bookmarking sites and forums are immense. The ultimate goal any website owner has is to bring as much traffic from his target audience to his website.

The only way to do this successfully is to get a high page rank in the SERPs. A huge part of that ranking depends on your website’s link popularity and the links that will get you there are the one-way links. The good old-days of slapping a website together and cramming in keywords are gone for good. The World Wide Web has evolved far beyond that today. The world has gone online and competition will become increasingly stiff; it is literally a case of adapt or die for business websites.
