PPC and its relationship with SEO

How SEO works

SEO, which stands for Search Engine Optimization, is a strategy that is formed by the web designer or marketer to improve the pages on a website as to attract more clients. This will hopefully have a positive impact on the ROI of the company and ensure steady growth.

For the SEO to able to place the website within the top ten rankings, it is necessary for the web designer to place strategic keywords in a proper structure. Keywords are those words that are picked up or selected by the HTML robots and define the website.

Meta tags are used in conjunction with the keywords as to emphasize selected keywords and easier accessible for HTML robots to detect. The search engine results will show if the keywords used will place the website in the best possible rankings. Because of the tremendous and continuous growth of Internet business, the marketing structure requires in depth knowledge of SEO’s and the use of primary keywords. This technology is however constantly evolving and is turning search engine optimization into a specialist field.

PPC and its Benefits

PPC, or pay per click, is an advertising campaign where a business pays for each event that is clicked upon by a potential customer.  Small ads of the business are often displayed on similar or related websites and the ppc option allows the advertiser to only pay if an interested customer or client enters into the website.

The PPC network sets up the ad for the marketer or owner at an agreed price. The ad is then set up by using the selected keywords, phrases and categories where they would like the keyword to appear. With a ppc campaign traffic to the website can be instantly monitored and controlled. This advantage allows the marketer to direct visitors onto specific areas of the website. Specific geographical areas can also be targeted when using the ppc tool.

Why PPC and SEO should have a good relationship

A ppc marketing campaign can generate traffic almost instantly while a SEO campaign can take weeks or sometimes months to reach similar results. New web owners often opt for the ppc campaign as it guarantees much faster business transaction than the drawn out affair of the SEO’s. Using both ppc and SEO campaigns can prove to be highly beneficial and lucrative in the long run.

As ppc targets relevant landing pages to optimize sales transactions, the same can be done with the SEO’s. The advantages of ppc over SEO’s have however proven that ppc has come out on top. One of the main attractions of ppc is its ability to access specified landing sites as well as target selected areas of advertising.

These options are not available with SEO’s. The ppc campaign can also be switched on or off at certain periods as to not become annoying to browsers. This option allows the advertiser to target ‘peak hour’ traffic; i.e. over weekends. All ppc campaigns are not successful however and a SEO one might prove to be a worthy backup.
