Google Page Rank and its Relation to Rankings

Let me start by saying that having a high Page Rank home page does not necessarily
mean that you will rank highly in the Google Listings. What it does mean however
is that you are more likely to. The reason for this is simple: Page Rank is
a reflection of your inbound links to that page. If a lot of people are linking
to a page then that page then that page will probably have some important (authoritive)
content. This in turn will (probably) lead to more traffic from them links
(another factor in Google Rankings).

So now we have more inbound links, more traffic and a higher Page Rank because
of this, so naturally rankings will follow (in theory). So that’s all
you have to do, get a high Page Rank and you will hit top 10 in Google? No…

What else should I be doing to my site?

There are so many factors in play with Google’s Algorithm that
you must take into consideration many if not all of the following:

  • Getting quality relevant inbound links.
The quality of links is so much more important than quantity, both in terms
of SEO and to gain Page Rank.
  • Adding quality, relevant content to all of your pages, targeting your keywords
as many times as possible, without spamming.
  • Get keywords into bold tags, alt tags and link anchor text.
This has a very big impact as it shows that you have internal linking structure
that is relevant to your keywords, again building authority.

Will doing all of the above guarantee me top 10 results?

The short answer is no, as all of your competitors may (and if they are firm
top 10 rankers they probably will be) be using the same techniques as you are.
The solution is a prolonged campaign. Also look at the age of the domain that
your competitor has, and compare that to yours, as this also has a great bearing
on the results that Google displays.

But the one sure fire way of maximising your chances of attaining top 10 results
is to hire a dedicated Search Engine Optimisation company who will use all
of their experience to get you in to them top 10 rankings.

An SEO Company can dedicate a lot more time to just looking at ways to get
your website to rank, where as you need to spend the bulk of your time maximising
your business.

Lot of things are required to get higher position in search engine like keyword rich contents, high quality and relevant inbound and outbound links, Meta tags, title and headline etc.

Google places a huge emphasis on the number of quality websites that are linking back to your website. If you want to boost your Page rank, the fastest way to do it is by finding high page rank sites that will link back to you. You can do this through a reciprocal link exchange or through other tactics like blog post commenting or link buying.

Always try to include relevant contents to all your pages, targeting your keywords as many times as possible without spamming. Get keywords into bold tags, alt tags and link anchor text. Create a solid link structure so that all your pages link together. This makes it easy for search engine spiders to crawl on your website and it will give you higher search engine rankings as well.

Only the page rank is not essential for website. The other Meta tags should also be used by making sure that they are highly relevant to the subject matter of your website, including your URL in forum posting and all the other tried and tested old chestnuts of website promotion. There are many ways to get links including, reciprocal linking with other sites, posting on blogs and forums, article marketing, and press releases just to name a few.

Search engine optimization is at the root of the need for improving the page rank of a website. The higher you have Google PR, the higher your website would be listed in the Google Search. The more number of websites are linked to your sites, the more votes you would get for getting a higher PR.
