How do you Make Money from your Search Engine Optimization Campaign? – Part 1

Undoubtedly the way to make money from any SEO Campaign is to ensure that it is successful.  Aside from choosing the correct keywords, how you make money from your SEO campaign depends on a variety of other issues.

High on the list would be how you can convert traffic to your site into revenue; if you do this you will make money.  Getting to this stage however, takes time and patience and, above all, knowledge.

The importance of Keywords

Yes, this is the basis for attracting traffic to your site – and yes the incorrect choice will aid in failure.  But choosing the right keywords alone will not make money.  Without undermining their importance though, people can also find your site via other methods, like link building, or word of mouth.

However, you have be on top of your keywords though as keyword phrases change in popularity all the time, so you need to monitor them constantly.  If you rely on a SEO expert to do this for you, make sure that they are up to date with keyword phrasing and what has been happening on the web.  This way they will be better able to judge which direction to take your campaign in.

SEO Experts

Resist the temptation to leave the work with an SEO expert without any input from yourself.  The magic of making money off your site lies with the input you put into your campaign.  Just because they have had success in another niche market, does not mean this will translate to your industry as you cannot expect your SEO expert to understand everything about your industry which has taken you years to accumulate.

You need to be consistently involved in your campaign so that you can keep our campaign aligned to your goals and objectives.   However, understand that your Search Engine Optimisation expert brings knowledge to the table which you do not have.

Conversion

Converting traffic into sales is not predictable; it is scientific and makes no allowance for wishes or ‘holding thumbs’.  Unless you implement scientific steps to get your website running and attract high traffic you will not get a high rate of conversion to sales.  Apart from successfully marketing your website, you need to make sure that each page is highly indexed by the most sought after search engines, so that means building your website carefully, and maintaining it consistently thereafter.  If your site is out of date, not user friendly or you are not supplying visitors with what they are looking for, chances are they wont stay long enough to buy anything.

Take your time so that you do it right, use compilations of perfect keyword combinations so that even if they are not popular ones, and even if they are not driving tons of searches, they can still steer the correct traffic to your site.

Converting traffic to sales is your responsibility and yours alone. It is not the duty of domain registrars and has nothing to do with web hosts.
