More and more I am hearing SEO companies who simply say, if we do not get the results within a certain time period we will give you all of your money back, forgive me for being sceptical but how can such companies operate in the manner?

SEO is about investing money into techniques to deliver a return, this return results in increased rankings, more targeted traffic and increased return on investment thus justifying any ongoing cost related to SEO.

Let me ask you this,  if a business is prepared to invest the time required knowing they will have to give you your money back if the results do not happen, how much of a risk is this to them? And if they are prepared to take such commercial risks, how much at risk is your SEO project?

The fact of SEO is it does take a few essential ingredients for long term success, these include, money, time and techniques, when all three come together you will have long term success.  Without any of these ingredients you will simply fail, and if you get your money back then so what, because you still have failed with time as you have to start all over again.

The other technique I have seen is actually a very devious sales technique, SEO companies offer guarantees but in the contract state for a min number of keywords, then they add some very long tail keywords to your keyword list, which you would be able to get to page one within a week or so, these phrases may offer you 1 click per month but add absolutely no benefit at all, however when you state the results have not been delivered they will open the draw and the contract will prove you wrong even though no benefit has been added.

Let me ask you this, would you go and buy some apples, make a pie, and then after you have eaten it go back to the shop and state “the apples did not give me the required taste”.

The fact of the matter is, agencies who offer this are trying to buy business, not only this but will be sneaky in terms of a certain number of longer tail keywords to cover there guarantees, if not then does anyone think if by month 8 for 12 months none of the keywords are getting ranked they will step it up to achieve results, of course not, the opposite will happen and a company would try and recover losses until the end when they state they will give you your money back.

I heard of one example like this recently, and guess what, the client was taking them to court because they would not give him his money back!

When you select an SEO company, as they saying goes, you get what you pay for, select an agency with a proven track record and who has listings for SEO related keywords themselves.

SEO Consult has page one listings for SEO, Search Engine Optimisation, Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing.  A company with a proven track record, OK we may not be the cheapest or offer guarantees of all your money back, but we do deliver results.
