In a world of instant results
Patience is a virtue. This is an old saying that has never really fallen out of fashion, especially not in business. Unfortunately in today lifestyle waiting for something is not common. First there were fast food outlets, now there is ‘drive thru’s’. There are companies that spent decade becoming captains of their industries and now we have companies that are practically overnight powerhouses. Everything about our lives is quicker.
Quicker is not always the best. When it comes to Web Design and SEO success time and patience is essential. In a world of quick fixes and instant results, creating a website that will rank higher on searches does not happen over night. The truth is there are quick fixes; this is true in any industry. However, just like in any other area of your life, a quick fix is also very often a short fix. They often leave you with the same problem later on but with included side effects. So in this case doing it properly takes time, but gives better, long lasting results.
The Internet is massive!
Very few, people truly understand the vastness of the Internet. To begin to give you some idea, Google recently announced that they had search over a trillion pages. A trillion! What is more intimidating is the fact that they also claim that there is still over a trillion more they have not searched yet, and the number is growing on a daily basis.
Search engines, are there to help categorize and source pages that best match user’s search requests. The use algorithms with over a hundred factors, as well as taking into account rankings of sites by online Social Communities such as Stumble and Digg It. No company in the world will be able to give you instant elevation to the top 10 in any search engine. Any and all methods of altering or creating a new site will take time to achieve the desired high-ranking position.
Avoid the short cuts of Black Hat, unethical SEO methods. Simply put, they take as long to work, but fizzle out very, very quickly without really achieve legitimate traffic. Design your sites for users. Include Useful Informative Content, with well researched applicable links, and make sure the site is not overly busy or messy, as the user must find it easy to navigate or else they will just go elsewhere.
Insure that you register your site with all the major search engines. Include site maps and key words etc. Otherwise it may take a while for the bolts to come across your site by chance. The more interconnected your site is to other applicable sites the better. The best type of links occur from users linking to your site, so the better the site the more likely users are to link to it, and the more they do the more Google and co will recognize your site. This takes time but is priceless and is practically impossible to duplicate.

Some interesting points, escpecially with regard to today’s culture demanding quick results and search engine optimization flying in the face of that. SEO isn’t a quick fix and should never be sold as such to potential clients interested in search engine optimization. If a poor SEO company takes short cuts then the search engine optimzation won’t be sustainable long-term and the client loses out. Search engine optimization isn’t an exact science but certain ethical techniques are proven to have an impact on a website’s SEO – at least for now, although of course the best way to get noticed by search engines is to have a good website with great content!!

Some good, core advice there on how important it is to have patience with SEO. Like the Irish Guiness slogan, ‘Good Things Come To Those Who Wait’.
Everybody wants the top rankings, but nobody wants to wait. I beleive that it is the job of the SEO company to manage their clients expectations and to educate them on the importance of patience with SEO.
SEO is not for the weak willed! Interesting how I see remarks asking why their site hasn’t indexed in an hour, why a page is not #1 even though they just pinged etc.
I’m totally White Hat and I don’t expect to see results at least for three or four days. Sometimes it’s sooner, just depending. It’s never longer than five days but SEO’s need patience of steel!
