Linkbaiting For SEO

The very term linkbaiting instantly conjures images of unethical search engine
optimisation and banned pages. However, in reality linkbaiting is a perfectly
genuine method of creating organic links to a web page as long as it isn’t
overdone or employed in an artificial manner. At its most simplistic, it is
the creation of any content that will lead others to link to it. Linkbaiting
can be considered a form of viral marketing in some respects because it aims
to generate word of mouth while offering high quality content that naturally
bestows links to a website.

The Usefulness Of Linkbaiting

The efficacy of linkbaiting can’t be called into question. The fact is that
if you provide high quality content and you have the appropriate traffic visit
a page containing that content then you stand a very realistic chance of acquiring
a link to that page. Because link building is such a major part in search engine
optimisation, linkbaiting is a genuinely useful technique.

Appealing To Other Websites

For linkbaiting to work, the content not only needs to be high quality but
also has to take it a step further. As well as being appealing to the end user,
it must also appeal to other website owners and encourage them to provide a
link. Powerful content that draws on any emotion can provide this appeal while
certain types of content such as video tutorials, buyer’s guides, or top ten
lists instinctively create a lot of buzz with publishers.

Organically Creating Links For SEO

The other major part of the linkbaiting challenge is ensuring that other website
owners see the content. You may have the best looking site with some of the
most appealing content on the web but if other webmasters are failing to see
that content then it may as well not have been published. Linkbait, then, only
really works if your website already has a good and stable basis of traffic
or if you believe that this source of visitors will soon be evident.

Avoiding Unethical Practices

Linkbaiting in itself is not an unethical search engine optimisation technique.
Ensure that the content provided is relevant to the page it is on and the overall
site theme too. Use ethical means to generate traffic that will see the content
and hopefully publish a link to it as a result. Also consider offering your
own HTML link code using your most desirable keywords as anchor text. The easier
you make it for others to link to a page, the more likely they will be to do
so.

Using Linkbaiting Techniques To Improve Search Engine Optimisation

Link building is an ongoing and sometimes difficult process in search engine
marketing. It requires constant effort to find sources of links but providing
high quality content that is appealing to other webmasters as well as end user
visitors can help to organically create links (which, in theory, is precisely
what the search engines are looking for). Do everything ethically and you stand
to reap the greatest possible rewards for your efforts.

  1. Margaret says:

Before diving into a linkbaiting campaign is a good idea for publishers to understand some things. The first is that an increase in traffic is ideal for a website. The second is an increase in traffic of people sent to pages that are not useful or interesting in information. For linkbaiting actually new traffic needs to be encouraged to return.

  2. Kimberly says:

Do not present the page of its website to social bookmarking sites. Some sites will not allow the link again on the ground to double the URL. Deep linking is always in these situations. Do not write top 10 or top 100, they are no more worthy enough for title link bait.

  3. Deborah says:

Linkbaiting is relatively a new term in the SEO world that has been on fire during the past year or so. Linkbaiting was never so popular before because it was never as effective as it is now, or as effective as going to get.

  4. Elizabeth says:

Linkbaiting itself is not really a bad word. Although the term may describe some methods have little use, the idea behind the concept is a good idea.

  5. [...] Search Engine Optimization is an ongoing and long term method of building targeted traffic. Some traffic can be expected reasonably quickly but it may take several weeks before you really begin to enjoy the benefits of your hard work. By targeting well searched keywords you can expect to generate hundreds or even thousands of unique visitors per day and continuing your SEO efforts by building more links and adding more pages with more keywords to target will inevitably mean even greater results over a period of time.
