The more details a package provides the better because you can always ignore the ones that you do not use. With that said, however, you should ensure that it contains all of the most important information. For good Search Engine Optimisation tracking you should be able to view visitor paths, referring websites, keywords used, and details of your visitors at the very least. Because SEO should be combined with other business aspects you should also look at a way of determining how well each of your visitors have performed for you.
Keyword Profitability
It’s possible to calculate how profitable a particular keyword has been. It can prove very beneficial to know the keywords that are giving you the greatest return on investment, not only for the sake of benchmarking and forecasting but also because it may give an indication of other keywords that will prove equally effective. Calculating these figures also help to calculate whether your keywords are properly targeted because visitors using targeted keywords will be more inclined to make purchases and convert to customers.

The primary goal of Search Engine Optimisation is to generate targeted traffic to the pages of a website. However, by considering it as part of the bigger picture you can get a much greater idea of how successful an SEO campaign has been, which keywords are the most beneficial, and how active visitors are when they arrive on your site. This information can be used to identify further opportunities and is most certainly used to optimise and improve on SEO performance.

To generate targeted traffic for the pages of a website is always a primary goal of a SEO and traffic is considered to be a major factor to monitor the performance. But I don’t think that it’s easier than actual SEO work, because counting daily/monthly traffic is not a big task. However to take any further step we need to analyze complete raw data very carefully and any kind of mistake in understanding raw data will change your direction that might be harmful to your site.
Are there any good tools out there you can recommend to monitor search engine optimisation activities over time? I’m working on a website at the moment and want to be able to compare the main search terms I’m optimising for on Google, Yahoo, MSN etc. Most of the services online I have found seem to require you to have a Google API key (which Google no longer hands out). The Google Webmaster tools allows you to see search results for Google only leaving me in the dark about other search engines.
There are many paid for services such as Web Position Gold or iBuiness Promoter that do what you want, but as far as I am aware there are no free use tools.
You may also want to try SEO Elite 4.
