Five Steps In The Direction Of ‘Perfect’ Content

Constantly providing high-quality content can seem like a tough call if you’re not used to writing. Even professional writers sometimes have difficulties with the unique demands of the net. While a certain flair for writing will help, there are five steps which will give any writer an edge. These steps can enable you to spot quality content as well as compose it when you have the need.

High-quality content is not something to be left up to chance, and it is for this reason that many companies approach their SEO consultants when looking at their content plan. Our consultants at SEO Consult can talk to you about content provision.

  • An optimal title. Your title has to do an awful lot for your content. It needs to catch the eye of internet users, grab the attention of the search engines and conform to the space around it. All three points are equally as important as the other. An optimised title might direct traffic to your content, but won’t guarantee it gets read, and guaranteeing that content gets read won’t necessarily help you with the search engines. A compromise must be made between style, substance and SEO
  • Set up for the net. The search engine optimisation industry knows only too well that the placement of words is just as important as their existence in the first place. Internet users tend to scan rather than read word-by-word, and a smart writer will place important words in the right paths to catch the eye
  • Provide value to the reader. Once your title has lured readers in, you need to hook them with content they will find interesting. An interesting topic is a start, but the way in which you present that topic is also important. The right approach can make the most boring topic fascinating
  • Conciseness. Internet writing should be to the point. Internet users have a very short attention span, and their eyes get tired very swiftly. The optimal length for a piece of web content is commonly thought to be 250 words. This provides enough room for five smallish paragraphs, which can deliver your message in bite-sized chunks
  • Correct and appealing formatting. It’s such a simple mistake, but so many businesses still make it. Getting sloppy when it comes to formatting, spell-checking and general appearance comes across as lazy, and will put a lot of users off. When you can, ensure that the font of your content is easy to read. When you can’t, ensure that there are no mistakes to put people off

It’s good to take note of the types of content as well as the elements within content that work well. There are plenty of articles about sure-fire attention grabbers for content, but as a basic rule, lists, bullet points and numbers appeal visually, while anecdotes and friendly tones appeal contextually. Combine the best of visual and context, as well as the above points, for the perfect piece.
