Linking sites are beneficial for both parties involved because they share traffic and both sites ratings increase.

Another useful and cheap way is to distribute your content to other sites with the agreement that the webmaster must keep the link to your site. Make sure that your content is of a high standard – people will read articles that are of good quality writing and return to read again.

Monthly newsletters are always a good idea. Newsletters remind people to visit your site, especially if you keep your newsletters interesting and a tease for the reader. You can also send out ezines to create hype around your site.

Join a forum where you can start topics and answer questions. By including a signature to your post with your website link will also help to increase your websites ratings.

This may not be your first thought or even your first choice but let us be honest Facebook have millions of members - members that basically live on Facebook. The chances are thus very good that someone will see your advert. Not only do the adverts create traffic but the pages as well. If your website has a Facebook page the chances are very high that someone will read it and in turn visit your website. Again remember that your page would need to be of a good quality and enough of a teaser to draw people to your website.

Sponsorship is another cheap way of increasing your page rankings. By sponsoring newsletters, competitions or a blog you advertise your website. There are millions of bloggers out there and if you sponsor one blog or a competition for the best Blog you are sure to attract a lot of attention.

In conclusion it is thus very clear that one does not need expensive search engine optimization to increase rankings but that there are cheaper and easier ways to create rankings.
