In the past I’ve often been asked “can my website still look good and still be Search Engine Optimized?”.
Simply put, Yes.
However, there seems to be a miss-conception these days that to make a site “Optimized” you’re going to have to pay a price between user interaction and satisfaction. Yes it’s true, search engines love text and that the more relevant content you embed into your website the more you’ll get out. But when looking at SEO as a whole it’s not just about keyword density or meta descriptions, it’s an entire process from On page optimization to Off page optimization and then finding a happy medium between the two.
With the rise of dynamically generated content comes the rise of nasty, non-compliant websites which not only make it hard to shift through the endless sea of redundant code but also makes the search engines job a lot harder to crawl your website.
Think SEO from the beginning!
From conception to completion a websites SEO status always sits in the back of my mind, like driving a car you’ve always got to be alert when creating additional content. Ask yourself “is this the best way I can Optimize?” Odds are that if you have to question yourself then it’s obvious!
Design with SEO in mind!
Like i said before design with SEO in mind, the term i used earlier comes to mind “conception to completion”. So next time your sitting there wondering how to create the next masterpiece, plan your project with SEO in mind to avoid re-work.
Secondly it’s about writing efficient code, this is the biggest problem regarding non-SEO websites and even more strangely the most overlooked! For something so basic you’ll be amazed at the amount of sites that don’t conform to modern standards.
It’s important to mention here that the events that take place in Off page optimization are just as important as the On page optimization. Building up a good list of inbound links also helps the search engines in rank of popularity, basically meaning that the more links leading into your website you have the more “popular” the search engines think you are.
Last but not least SEO is not an instant results job, it’s a campaign and should be treated like one, no-one will ever see results instantly however over time and with a good understanding of SEO you’ll find promising results sooner rather than later.
