Competition Is Rife For Great SEO

Competition is everywhere

With the millions of websites, all of which are competing for the top 10 to 30 ranks on any Search Engine Results Page (SERPs), you are bound to find competition with the products and services you are offering. There are numerous methods for generating web traffic and many businesses out there are using them.

Thus the SEO campaign being one of the most popular internet marketing methods, is time consuming and requires a great deal of energy to do research, analysis and copywriting. However, all this must be done with the competitors in mind. Instead of completely focusing on what keywords or methods (such as the use of backlinking) you can use to improve your rankings.

You should also pay attention to what methods or keywords your competitors are using. Only once you start focusing on some of your competitors will the business start to expand because then you have your own audience but at the same time you get to compete for your competitors audience.

Be a spy

Research is the initial recipe to success. Thus, in the competitive Internet marketing world, it is essential to research your competitors before carrying out any business or marketing plans. For SEO, one of the ways is by determining the number of backlinks a competitor website may have. This can be done by going to Yahoo! and typing in link:competitorsdomain.com in the search bar.

The next step is to determine the backlinks your competitors have with certain keywords. This can be done via Google’s search bar by entering: allinanchor: keyword. Then a list of websites with the most anchored text with that specific keyphrase can be found.

With this information, you can determine which Keywords to include in your keyword list and thus avoid competition.

How to win against competitors

Basically, the way to win against competitors is through working on various SEO Techniques and optimizing them. These includes researching and building strong keyword lists, use of RSS feeds, optimizing meta tags, use of business blogging and article writing, backlinking and use of pay per click advertising.

Research must be done before proceeding with any of these SEO methods. Part of the research includes researching your competitors as previously mentioned. This way you can tell if you are providing similar information with your blogs and thus allowing you to edit the blogs to have unique contents to attract the attention of your audience.

Similarly, by checking out your competitors you can determine the keywords they may be using and hence allowing you to modify and optimize your keyword list. All of this is a large amount of work to handle especially if you are not technologically inclined.

Thus, it is best to allow an SEO expert help you with building and optimizing your website. This will allow you to participate in your Search Engine Optimization without having to deal with the details, and further allowing you to focus more on other areas of your business.
