Let’s say that your website is performing well, it is attracting a large volume of traffic each and every day. You may even be enjoying a decent conversion rate on that large volume of web traffic. Do you really have to spend time contemplating and analysing web analytics and tracking your progress? Well, the answer to that question is a definite yes.

The analysing, tracking and contemplating of web analytics never stops hen you have a website. SEO is not something that can be left to its own devices. It cannot be set to autopilot while you sit back and reap the rewards. Sooner or later, the rewards will dry up and you will only have negatives coming your way. However, you will not notice anything unless you keep an eye on your web analytics.

Reaching the right people

The first thing that you need to look at is the percentage of your web traffic that fall into your target market group. You can see this by the amount of traffic you are attracting, the keywords used to find your website, your conversion rate and the amount of time your visitors spend on your website. If you are not reaching the correct target audience, you will not be able to make a profit off any ecommerce website.

This is simply because the audience you are attracting will not have a sufficient interest in what your website and your business has to offer them. Your web analytics will be able to tell you whether you are right on the button through relaying the efficacy of your keywords, where your traffic is coming from etc.

What does your traffic do?

You may be attracting large volumes of traffic; however, your conversion rates may be very low. You can help remedy this problem by investigating what visitors to your website actually do on your site and how long they stay on it.

Again, web analytics are needed in order to see exactly how many people simply leave after arriving on your landing page, how many browse around and which pages are the most popular ion your website. Gathering all of this information through your web analytics will help you create an even better website in the long run.

Objective and journey

The objective of your website is to generate a profit, but also to be the best that it can be. You must remember that new websites, competition for your website, flood onto the internet each and every single day. That means that your website constantly needs to be tweaked, upgraded, changed and adapted to be the best it can be on a continual basis.

What works today may not work tomorrow. A better website may take your rank in the SERPs tomorrow. You may want to increase your profits and make the most of the good times. Whatever the reason, web analytics can help you do more, be more and generate more profit, traffic, interest, etc. There is always a need to do more, strive for something better and obtain it.
