Tools for a SEO and Web developer

There have been lots of blog lately in the SEO world defining useful tool for our industry so I thought I give you mine I have also included my web developer tool because most of us SEO cross train as the two are closely related.

So let’s start

Firefox: not a SEO tool by its self but certainly very important from a web developer point of view as it display the Web using the official standard of the web and very effect in SEO with the right add-on I could spend a day on reciting the pro of Firefox but I wont instead I go over it SEO add-on and the Web developer tools

FireFox Add-on for the developers/designer

Measureit: does what is say on the tin allow you to measure part of websites with in the browser

ColorZilla: ever want to know what a color is on a web page this is the tool for you

Ietab: allow you to see what a site will look like in IE7

Server spy: Identifies the server type of a give Website

User agent switcher allow you to View site in all type of browser including mobiles

FireBug allow you alter website locally including HTML, JavaScript, CSS great for debugging purposes

Web developer: alterative to firebug

FireFox Add-on for SEO

Greasemonkey: allow you to write JavaScript program that can be executed on the fly locally on any web site of you choice and their already thousand of free script out their

Livehttpheaders: quite a technical tool allowing you to analyise header responses

Link counter: Present a count of links to a given web page in Firefoxs browser’s status bar and identifies links and highlight them by type examples of link type it identifies are targets, anchors, feeds, mails, empty files, internal and external.

Netcraft toolbar: primarily used to protect your online but has its use for SEO allow you to establish the age of the site and identifies it hosting location

Other Tools

Word press: allows easy integration of blog to your site driving your SEO via fresh up to date content it also has add-ons for SEO meta tags amongst other things Word press add-ons are worthy of a entire blog, and I will do that one next time

SEOBook Competitive & Keyword Research Tool: more a PPC tool than a SEO one allow you to do keyword research without the aid of Google

To conclude all these tool are fantastic but are only as good as the SEO’s who use them.
