This is the long awaited second part of my blog on Tools for internet marketing and SEO. So far we have covered Firefox and Word Press, these are both fantastic tools for SEO. Now lets carry on. The next set of tools I am going to cover are the ones the search engine provide. Firstly, Google Analytics. If you don’t know about this you’re still in the dark ages and need to get in to the 21st century, next you’ll be asking me what SEO is! There are many applications out which try to emulate Google Analytics, but why take second best when the best is free.
Google Analytics basically allows you to analyze the traffic coming to your website. It divides your traffic source up in to search engine traffic, Direct traffic and Other traffic. You can drill down further on the search engine traffic to organic or CPC (PPC) you can also set goal, analyze bounce rate, see which links are getting the most clicks and much, much more. Don’t let me put you off, Google Analytics can be as easy or as in-depth as you want it to be, I am still learning all the tricks to it but the really trick is what you do with the data that you analyze.
The next tool is also a Google tool and it does exactly what it say on the tin. Google Webmaster tools allows you to study your links and is far better then typing link:www.yousite.co.uk into Google. It also allows you to GEO Target and declear site maps etc. It also has many additional features to help Webmasters. Yahoo also has the same feature although it is nowhere near as advanced as Google’s.
My final tool for this blog is Xenu. Xenu identifies any broken links within your website, important because Google hates broken links.
Hope you have enjoyed my review of these tools and remember the best thing about them all is that they’re free.
