SEO Sins – Irrelevance

Irrelevance comes in many forms. Irrelevant links, irrelevant page content,
and irrelevant keywords can all cause harm or prevent you from gaining the
advantages that good SEO offer. Relevance and authority combine to generate
good SEO practices and it is important that you retain a high level of relevance
in pretty much everything you do.

Stick To Your Theme

Every website has a theme, and each page belonging to that site should also
have a theme. This ensures that readers can easily gain access to the information
they require and it keeps your content on track and useful. Even personal blogs
will typically have some semblance of a uniform theme.

Relevant Links

When embarking on link building for your SEO, remember that the most beneficial
links are those that come from relevant pages. That means that the linking
page should be on a similar or the same topic as your own page. It may make
it harder to attain links from your main competitors, but by offering something
relevant that they want in return, it can pay dividends (write a page of content
or provide a video clip for example).

Relevant Anchor Text

The anchor text used in those links should also be relevant to your page.
Ideally, a link will use one of your main keywords or semantically related
keywords, to fully ensure that it is seen as being a relevant and authoritative
link.

Relevance

Authority and relevance are two of the most important words in SEO and combining
them will help create a powerful SEO campaign. Gain links from relevant pages,
offer relevant content and use relevant keywords on your own pages. This will
result in pages being indexed and ranking well for those keywords that matter
most to you.
