The Importance of Blogs in Search Marketing

I sat down to write todays blog post and whilst I tried to avoid the famed writers block, it hit me…Why am I doing this? Which lead me to my title and its content, why do us Search Engine marketers actually write blogs?
Blog is actually derived from Web Log and is essentially an ongoing diary displayed in chronological order. They can contain videos, images and music to inform whoever has signed up to receiving your blog.
All the big sites now have a blog facility as it is a fantastic way of updating a core following with fresh news and events. It’s simple from a user perspective to receive blogs as all you need initially is to download a Blog Reader which is freely available. Then just click the orange logo and you will receive the feed as often as you like.
But in recent years it has taken on a further importance, that within the Search Engine Optimisation arena. It is now established in the Google Algorithms favourite things on a website, not only does it show you appreciate your audience and therefore your site is user based, it is an excellent way of uploading fresh content simply and easily on a regular basis.
We all know the necessity for content, and more importantly fresh content, but with a blog, a siteowner has the feasibility of adding content daily or even hourly. Even if it doesn’t drive a huge amount of traffic, it will certainly enhance your chances of being spidered more frequently and therefore gaining Page Rank and authority. There is also a greater chance of appearing for long tail search, which would then direct a very interested searcher to your site.
