Using Niche Keywords To Improve SEO

Whether you’re looking to improve the amount of traffic you receive from search engines or are just starting an SEO campaign, choosing the right mix of targeted keywords is important. Many sites suffer poor search engine results because they target keywords that are very generic, while more targeted keywords are not only likely to improve the overall number of visitors your site receives but those visitors are more inclined to purchase products, pay for services, and generally interact while on your site.

Identifying Your Niche

Most businesses and websites cater to one or more niches. If you operate a local business then you can use your target area as a start for building a niche. Alternatively, consider the specific products or services that you offer rather than treating them as a whole SEO campaign. Every page of a site should have its own SEO campaign in order to generate the best results and this gives you opportunity to target different niche keywords on each page.

Finding Niche Keywords

Keyword research software is available in both commercial and freeware versions. Choose a package that you are comfortable with using and that offers adequate information. You will need to know the expected or historical number of searches for each term and good SEO software should also enable you to find similar and related keywords. Using your niche markets try to gather a handful of closely related terms and keywords for each page.

Targeting A Particular Niche

Niche keywords, like niche markets, will tend to have less competition but this does come at the price of monthly search volume. This trade off, however, will present you with the opportunity to rank well and rank quickly. By using more targeted keywords and concentrating your conversionary efforts around these niches you can greatly improve your total traffic levels, your ROI, and your profit levels. Eventually, you can spread out to include more niches and conduct separate SEO campaigns once you have built up a strong, popular website.

Combining Niche With General Keywords

Niche keywords can be used for most websites, even those that don’t target a single particular niche. Pages can combine niche keywords with more general ones. Care should be taken to ensure that you only use relevant keywords that are still targeted to both the service you offer and the type of business your customers are looking for. Too many generic keywords, or SEO keywords that are overly generic can prove very difficult to generate good conversion rates even if you rank well and attract a lot of traffic.

The Benefits Of Niche Keywords For Your SEO

Niche keywords should be included in any SEO campaign to some degree. Every page of your website will have its own SEO campaign being run on an ongoing basis allowing you to include one or more niche keywords for every product or service that you offer. By using targeted SEO keywords and adding more pages you can still generate a very good level of traffic while ensuring that all visitors that come through the search engine results are active and profitable.
